Evoi Wines Update May 2021

Well, my hands are stained purple which is a good indicator we are nearing party time! The reds are all in and with a wet finish to vintage and a cyclone people were expecting the reds to be rather poor this year but no. All the red parcels are looking fantastic. Huge colour and huge fruit. Each year I think I've seen the best Malbec only to receive a better parcel!

If you haven't got your mum a gift for Mother's Day yet, then make sure you check out our new Gift Cards - these will allow your mum to book an experience with me, touring the winery, tasting some fantastic wine (maybe even out of the barrel) and we will see if we can turn her hands purple too! ;)

Read on for more about the 2021 Vintage, our New Releases, our new Cellar Door menu and some great reviews from The Wine Front!

VINTAGE UPDATE

SBS - I did this over a variety of picks so we will have a huge range of flavours. I've just blended the barrel ferment portion into the main batch so we will see how it develops. The barrel portion with wild ferment adds so much structure and complexity to the wine.

Chardonnay - This always needs time to develop. It is looking very complex at this stage and is sitting in barrel and tank. The barrel portion being stirred each week to gain body and yeasty nuances.

NEW RELEASES

Time flies and so do the Vintages. We have had a few new releases lately...There are quite small volumes of Chardonnay so you'll see the Vintages ticking over quickly.

2019 Chardonnay has all the Evoi Characters but on steroids. Huge intensity, with a lot more than fruit happening. There's even a quality of the ocean there. I'd love to try it with fresh oysters.

The 2018 Malbec was released a few days ago. This was the best Malbec I had seen... till new vintages came along. In saying that, it is everything a Malbec should be and more. Huge and juicy, full of fruit, especially mulberry and raspberry.

2015 Reserve Chardonnay. It's very similar to the 2014 with similar weather patterns during vintage. The 2015 is showing a bit more fruit than the 2014 and similar complexities.

FRIDAY LIBRARY TASTINGS AT CELLAR DOOR

Because its fun and we love it, we will continue to dust off some library stock each Friday at Cellar Door to see how some of these wines have held up over time.

These wines are not for sale, this is purely an educational experience that is not to be missed... No charge for this incredible insight to winemaking, just pop in anytime 10am-5pm on Friday. Check out Facebook for an update on which wines we will be looking at.

SAY CHEESE!

We are now offering a selection of cheeses, dips and pate (Margaret River Dairy Company) with crackers to compliment your wine tasting. Soon this will extend to tasty platters!

HAPPY CUSTOMERS!

It's Vintage time here in Margaret River and we don't let the cows miss out! In this photo you can see the cows eating grape marc - this is the solid waste left over from pressing grapes into wine and is high in antioxidants, fibre, and other nutrients that are essential to the health of cattle.
